There are classics, and then, there are CLASSICS.

This photo says Moonpie in so many ways, not the least of which is the fact that we just dumped a bag of Vance's dad's empty Coors cans on our laps and PRETENDED that we'd drunk them all.

This was actually shot for a photography class Vance took.

  1. Dig those bell bottoms our heros are wearing. Rick also wearing his "Pre Doc Martin" shoes 30 years before they were in style and Vance with a perennial favorate, the desert boot complete with gummed soles. The pair are also sporting the mandatory screened print t-shirt which was a staple of any decent 'heads' wardrobe. Forget M.C. Hammer, talk about "Can't touch this", we were simply....decent.

  2. IIRC, Vance was wearing a Ski Breckenridge shirt. Mine was a Keep On Truckin' shirt -- one of the ones that R. Crumb didn't make a penny from because of a snag in the copyright laws. And, speaking of "penny," I'm pretty sure I bought it at J.C. Penny's.

  3. I should also mention that this photo appears in the actual Moonpie Chronicles, Book 1.

    I SHOULD say that, but I won't.

  4. I should also also mention that this photo is clearly identified from the mid-1970s by the Coors cans, which featured a special pressure pre-release tab. There were two push-in tabs you used. One was a small one to release the pent-up gas, the second was the larger one used to suck the enclosed suds.

Gettin' all archaeological and shit, ain't we?

  5. sorry the photo is so grainy. We shot this pic., developed the film and printed the picture using outdated film, the wrong chemicals and the impatience that is a teenager. But we did it! Also, the stain on the drive is from a car and not my pants. The bricks in the picture come from a sand mine outside OJO CALEINTE', NM and were fashioned by hand. Not really, I'm just shittin' ya, they are from Mars.

Spam and rudeness will not be tolerated. We're here to have a few grins, and if you can't abide, move along. Did I mention Spam? Because if I didn't, here it is. NO SPAM!! That includes saying you like our blog and it's thought-provoking (which we know is a lie) and here's a link to your blog. Basically, if you link post a link to a for-profit site without the express written consent of me or the Big Vance-a-rino, I'll delete your comment and you'll look like an ass or I'll mock you mercilesly for being a dork.
