Vincent

No, it's not a Black Shadow -- this is a Vincent Black Lighting. Included here because it's sister, the Vincent Black Shadow, was the bike that Hunter Thompson coveted.

Actually, here is a grainy image of the Black Shadow. This comes from a website for Vincent fans, which features all of HST's writings mentioning the bike.

I think that for many years I thought the bike was made up. And yet, here is a guy named Rollie Free, breaking the land-speed record at Bonneville in 1948. He's riding a Black Shadow, and wearing a bathing suit. Seriously. He and ex-wife number 19 would have gotten along like a house afire.

I include this image for no other reason than that I think it is cool and clever.
This here was Rhonda Sue; ex-wife number 19. Reasons why it didn't work out? She had seven of those black bathing suits -- one for every day of the week -- and nothing else. This was what she wore to go swimming, to sleep in, to go to the grocery store,to go to work, to go to a dinner party. It was a bit eerie. That and the fact that she carried an M1 Rifle (with fixed bayonet!) everywhere she went. A former member of the ROTC Drill Team, she had incredibly strong arms and was able to hold the rifle straight out, by the bayonet mount, with just two fingers.

One day, while practicing in the yard, she snagged the trigger of the rifle on a tree branch and... well, that's the third reason it didn't work out.
