Rick took this photo of the VW Rabbit hauling ass down from Sandia Crest, New Mexico. I was at the wheel and we had Rick take a position in the snow drifts. You see we used no tire chains and the snow was about a 3" packed surface. No snow tires, guardrails or brains....just the way Rick and I liked it.

Spam and rudeness will not be tolerated. We're here to have a few grins, and if you can't abide, move along. Did I mention Spam? Because if I didn't, here it is. NO SPAM!! That includes saying you like our blog and it's thought-provoking (which we know is a lie) and here's a link to your blog. Basically, if you link post a link to a for-profit site without the express written consent of me or the Big Vance-a-rino, I'll delete your comment and you'll look like an ass or I'll mock you mercilesly for being a dork.
~Peace & Love,

Ah, yes. The infamous Moonpie-Sandia Rallye. We came in first on this race if memory serves. Of course we were the only entrants.
ReplyDeleteAfter dicking around at Sandia Crest and freezing our nadgers off, we decided to take the back road down, which leads to Placitas. The fact that the road was closed due to snow didn't deter us.
I think we may both have been scared shitless as we tore down the back-side -- though niether of us would admit it.
Vance hit a rock, or a chuck-hole or something and dented the rim of The Jacqueline's Rabbit.
The dented rim, ah yes, I had forgotten that part. The VW in those days had a full size spare tire and I think we made a quick change of tires before I went home.
