Where we were before we were here.

So, Buster. You were borned, den, in CanaDA?
~Cheech and Chong from the Buster the Body Crab sketch.

Like Buster the Body Crab, I, Rick, was also borned in Canada. More specifically,Midland, Ontario, Canada, a community on the route of the 2010 Winter Olympics Torch Relay. I only lived there until I was 5, though I spent every summer there until I was 13.

Despite having lived in these Estados Unidos since 1963, and having served 6 years in the U.S. Army, I'm still a citizen of Canada, The True North Strong and Free. So Tuff Darts, Buddy!

  1. I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1957. We lived there then moved for a brief time to Topeka, Kansas and then back to Lincoln. Mom remarried to an Air Force officer and it was off to Charleston, South Carolina. When dad was deployed to Viet Nam, we moved back to lincoln. Dad was injured in 'Nam and we moved to Memphis, Tenn.. After about 6 years we moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico because the weather agreed with dad. I finished high school in '76 and moved to Denver to attend the Colorado Institute of Art. I lasted 6 mos. of a 2 year program and moved back to ABQ.. Getting bored in a hurry, I took a job in Red River, New Mexico as a dishwasher and busboy at the Riverview Inn for $50.00 a week and room and board. Back to ABQ. within a year and then moved to Virginia in the late 80's. Twenty years ago I moved to Maryland and here I'll stay. This is the place I've stayed the longest and I'm starting to feel like I belong here. I still dream of moving back to New Mexico and living in a ranch style home outside of town. Probably will not happen but hey, you have to keep the dream.

  3. Ah yes, the IBM typewriter repairman. I was God in those days, having the ability to know all 735 mechanical adjustments of the IBM selectric II, Dual-picht, self-correcting typewriter.

  4. Man, you ain't gonna believe this shit, but setting right next to my HP computer with Samsung Flat Screen monitor is an IBM Selectric II.

We use it to type mailing labels and...ummmm. I guess that's about it.
