Why I don't ride...

I pretty much pissed myself - twice! - just watching this video. I don't need that kind of excitement in real life. This video depicts a 25 mile ride played out in six-and-a-half realtime minutes through Moscow traffic.

You can watch it on Youtube for the fullscreen effect too.

Robert Plant....

Janet and I have this album....oh sorry, CD of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and the tunes are great. The guy has unlimited talent and longevity.

There is no end to the awards this cat has earned over the years...

From his "humble" beginnings with Led Zepplin to his music today, Robert Plant receives the "Moonpie Chronicles" award for excellence.

Rock on dude, you are a true legend and thanks for the memories.

Back in the day...

Rick and I used to go to all our friends weddings.........in style!

The women were refined and classy as hell....

Rick and I never missed a chance to go for a swim and a couple of beers....

All finished off with a good game of toilet shoes...

I mean, really, what could be more fun?

Work we do today...

This is under bridge 33 on the Inter-County Connector project in Montgomery county, Maryland. The small green area consitis of 5,500 small plants and 187 larger shrubs.

This is one half of the bridge and about one quarter of the plant materail that will be installed under bridge 33. This is one of five bridges that we have to install landscape under. Maryland must have plenty of money to design something like this. Oh well, this job has kept me employeed for over two years. The job is 7.2 miles long and the landscape contract is 7.4 million. Now you know why I have gray hair.

My boy breaks a rock

Here's my son Gabe from his Brown Belt II test for Tai Kwan Do. He can talk back to me any time he wants. He's my hero. Except that he never phones unless he wants something.... Oh... I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree.... ;~)

Albuquerque Civic Auditorium

I know we've posted about the Civic Auditorium before, the scene of many a great concert. The Civic struck the perfect balance between the intimacy of a bar and the energy of a concert hall. I'd trade it for all the ridiculous venues we have now in a heartbeat.

If you remember Albuquerque from back in the day, you might want to checkout this facebook page -- "Remember in Albuquerque when..."

the olden days

Here's a couple of snaps from back in 83 or 84, not long after my first wife, Gayle, and I had moved to Albuquerque from Tacoma.
I weighed in at 180lbs here and I think I thought I was a lardass. Oh to be that lardass again.

Note the "Bourbon Bros. Disco Sucks" jersey I'm sporting. The Bourbon Bros. were a band that played the Chelsea street Pub circuit back in the 1980s. Many a night was consciousness lost listening to the band play Led Zeppelin on a banjo and drinking cocktails we won for being the most obnoxiously loud people in the place.
